LaidOffCamp is a support-type event for those laid off created by Chris Hutchens:

Hutchins, 24, said that yesterday’s wave of layoffs inspired him to try building a community for the unemployed and to “create resources for people who need to figure out what to do with their lives after being laid off.” Hutchins hopes to sponsor career fairs for participants but remains cautiously optimistic about finding employers who are actually hiring in the current economic climate. News Flash: Circuit City really is Dying!

As of about 3:54pm (EDT), Circuit City’s website (circuitcity.com) has gone down for maintenance – or so it appears.

Maybe they are updating their website with their liquidated prices.

It’s liquidation time! Well, As long as it’s approved.

Circuit City joins CompUSA in Death

It’s been very obvious – for a long time – that Circuit City isn’t going to last much longer. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan, and their employees don’t all disagree.

A source in the know informs us that no matter how exactly things move forward from here (it’s still murky as to the logistical details from a store level over the next few days), any sales will be gone with all prices moving back to MSRP, or well over market price in most cases. Oh, and watch those extended warranties, too. [MSNBC]

It’s sad to see another one go, but maybe Circuit City and CompUSA will be friends in over-charged-electronics-store-that-failed-heaven.

Liquidation? Whoo-Hoo! (Sorry to those losing your jobs and to the economy.)

Turns out that Cerberus CEO John Snow, who spent three-and-a-half lackluster, and some might say lap-doggish, years as President Bush’s second Treasury secretary, is leading a who’s who of crony capitalists in a lobbying campaign for a taxpayer bailout to�“salvage Cerberus’ investment in Chrysler.”
