Not only can you offload the chore of sending email and making sure things deliver while monitoring the status, but now you can forget about maintaining an email server entirely and let the pigeon rocket do the work for you.

I’ve been using PostageApp for over a year in all of my projects. It takes less than a few minutes to get up and running and I never have to think about email again.

Twenty-ten was a busy year for both developers and myself. Here’s a look at some of the apps I began using.

Pandora - The most cost effective and least stressful way of listening to music. I create a a “playlist” that infinitely fills itself up based on the song, genre, or artist that I’m in the mood for. I tell it what I want to listen to and it does the rest. It automatically knows what type of music is related and plays it, and because I have an iPhone, I don’t have to buy music to carry it around because–yes–there’s an app for that. Check out Pandora here.

Kaleidoscope - The best looking file comparison tool available. Not the cheapest app, but a great one nonetheless for quickly viewing changes between different versions of files and images. It’s very polished and if I highly recommend it. Check out Kaleidoscope app.

Square - Typically when collecting money from clients, roommates, or customers I’d only be able to accept cash or checks. In 2010 I received my little square card reader and was able to accept credit cards without any monthly fees, commitments, or minimums. It hangs off my keychain and works directly with my iPhone (also works with Android). An innovative way to accept credit card payment wherever you are and for whatever reason. Check out Square.

Use Reminders - I can’t remember everything! Like I said, it was a busy year so being able to set reminders and forget about them was great. When the time was right I’d be reminded and carry on with my less stressful life. I can’t tell you the amount of times this has saved my ass. Check out Use Reminders – it’s really neat!

Just as I began using a few new apps this year, I also discontinued the use of a few. I no longer use Things for Mac and iPhone nearly as much as I used to. It’s not that it is any less of a great app, it really is, but it just doesn’t fit into my work flow any more. I was trying to figure out ways to use it and eventually the to do list of things became overwhelming. I started procrastinating more because the things I needed to do were on the list and weren’t going any where.

Now, I no longer use things and I’m more productive because of it. It sounds odd that by stop using a to-do list app that I would become more productive, but it’s true. The reason is simple: if I have something that I need to do, I get started immediately or I set myself a reminder (using Use Reminders) to start at a later date. If you just get started on something, I’ve found that it gets done and you don’t get the “procrastination stress” that goes along with big lists.

What did you start using in 2010 that you’re still using now?

Here is a list of my favorite features that you will find in Snow Leopard:

Faster Wake up, shut down, and joining a wireless network.

Automatic Automatic Automatic! Snow Leopard automatically detects your current time zone and will update printer drivers so you don’t have to.

Safari is super fast in Snow Leopard. It’s also super resistant to crashes (Damn browser plugins, ahem, Flash).

Built in Microsoft Exchange support right out of the box. Great for students and organizations utilizing Microsoft Exchange (almost everyone). Email, Contacts and Calendar with Exchange will work the way they are supposed to without any extra setup.

Exposé and Stacks get new functionality. Exposé will now utilize the dock for a better user experience (just click and hold on an application icon and all windows will unshuffle so you can quickly change to unshuffle another one). Stacks are now scrollable and gains navigation.

Grand Central Dispatch! For us developers this is simply awesome. It makes it super easy to take advantage of multicore processors. Consumers will also notice a kick-ass difference in application performance by applications utilizing this technology.

OpenCL, yet another geeky technology. When an application needs extra processing power it can turn to the graphic processor to share the load. Another piece of technology to make your mac scream in terms of performance.

64-bit native applications including Finder. Speed!

Reclaim your storage! Not only will installing Snow Leopard be 45% faster than it’s predecessor, but it’ll give you about 6 GB of storage back!

Traditionally Apple charges $129 for new versions of OS X, however this version is so important that they want everyone to upgrade and it’ll only cost them $29.

Leave free space. Leaving around 750MB of free space allows the iPhone to create more virtual memory.

Less Email! Email downloading in the background is the number one cause of my iPhone slowness. Under settings you’ll be able to show less recent message.

Get email less often. Uhh, What? It makes sense in terms of performance, but not to the email enthusiast. Checking for mail every 5 minutes will slow down your phone’s performance. Try using something longer – hourly or manually will greatly improve the performance of your phone for you email junkies.

Delete old text messages (SMS).

Apps Apps Apps! The more apps = the more screen rendering. Remove your unused apps.

Clear Safari’s cache. You can do so under settings > safari > clear cache.

Turn off Bluetooth and or WiFi. This can also help improve battery performance.

If all else fails, try doing a reboot. Hold both buttons for a few seconds.
